E-Cigarette

“An electronic cigarette looks like a cigarette, feels like a cigarette, lights like a cigarette and produces a puff of “smoke,” all without the yucky bad stuff that smokers inhale into their lungs and spew into the air. Best of all, you can use them anywhere, including airports and restaurants, because they produce vapor, not smoke. It’s the smoke that’s harmful in cigarettes, not the nicotine”.

Just recently, an alternative to conventional cigarettes has come on the market. The V2 Electronic Cigarette, or e-cigarette, is a battery powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by delivering a vaporized liquid nicotine solution. In addition to delivering inhaled nicotine, electric cigarettes provide a flavor and physical sensation similar to that of inhaled tobacco smoke, but without involving tobacco, smoke or any form of combustion in its operation.

Experience better health without the toxins, tar and other poisons traditional cigarettes contain. Your body will notice the relief of cutting out all of those added poisons.  Our customers tell us that they feel better, their skin is better looking and they breathe better.

Our Experience Using Bunk Beds

A bunk bed is a type of bed in which one bed frame is stacked on top of another. The nature of bunk beds allows two people to sleep in the same room while maximizing available room space. This leads to them being used in places with limited room space, such as on ships and in army garrisons or in places that wish to maximize bedspace such as : hostels, prison cells, university residence halls, dormitories, summer camp cabins, or children's rooms.

I have personal experience using bunk beds. Incidentally, the room is very small family home, so that when we gather at the feast, our lack of beds, number of us there are 33 people. Our family decided to use the bunk beds, which we think is very efficient, can make use of the existing and maximum comfort! We are using 3 kind of bunk beds, wich are full over full bunk beds, twin over full bunk bed, and bunk beds with stairs.

With full over full bunk beds, they have the same size for the top and bottom. It can be used for single or double size for couples in bottom and top.
With twin over full bunk bed, usually have different sizes. For the bottom of the bed size is larger than the top. In the bottom side can be used for two persons.

The third is bunk beds with stairs, which is has different sizes with lot of function. They also had different direction of sleep position.
Be more efficient with bunk beds.

Top 10 Business Trends for 2012

Ameradeals exclusive annual research study of midsize and large organizations reveals the 10 trends that will play a significant role in enterprises in the coming year.

Most trends lists are created by “experts“ who brainstorm, discuss, and argue until they reach a consensus as to what the big topics and market developments are going to be. Baseline decided a few years ago to make primary research the foundation of its annual trends report.

By asking several hundred business and technology managers at North American organizations with 100 or more employees to tell us what’s going on in their workplaces, we get representative viewpoints that provide objective, proof-driven insight into what the stories will be in the coming year.

In October, we fielded our survey to 422 of these managers, across all sectors in the United States and Canada. We asked them about their technology investments, strategies and commitment levels; the degree to which those levels might rise or fall; and the support levels from various stakeholders (IT, users, executives and finance professionals).

What we didn’t ask survey respondents about was “trends,” per se, because it’s the aggregate of the individual players in a market that constitutes a trend. Our analysis is based on what respondents know most about: what’s going on in their own organizations. That’s how we determined the top 10 trends for this article.

We have a sound basis for selecting these trends and provide an impartial way to compare the strength of each trend against the others. In a few cases, we’ll highlight trends that few others are seeing or indicate where the buzz of today is going to fade tomorrow.

To accomplish this, our analysis of the research results doesn’t look only at what’s popular or even what’s growing—though it does begin with that. To have “buzz,” a trend has to have highly accelerated growth.

So, for example, you might be surprised to see that virtualization didn’t make the list for 2012. Virtualization’s strong growth and popularity has remained stable in our study for three years, but this year’s survey results showed that 2012 will be a “steady-on” year for virtualization, not a buzz year, so it’s not listed as a top trend.

Meanwhile, a trend first hyped several years ago—unified communications (UC)—didn’t make our trends list until last year, at No. 10, where we said it was “finally showing signs of life.” This year, as part of a broader trend in communications, it’s reached the No. 4 position. We were able to hold off on including this technology three years ago because our data showed it hadn’t reached the tipping point. Last year, UC did, and, this year, it’s coming on strong.

How Last Year’s Predictions Fared

In “The Top 10 Tech Trends of 2011” (Baseline, November/December 2010), we did pretty well with our forecast, with six real hits and only one clear miss. Our favorite hits include “End Users Gain More Control,” predicted long before all the current buzz on consumerization; “VDI Adoption Takes a Breath,” which at the time we published, wasn’t really imagined; and “BI Trumps Crowdsourcing,” which turned out to be true in a big way. Our miss? “Interest in Cloud Computing Refocuses on SaaS,” which was No. 6. SaaS adoption has certainly continued, but all the buzz has been elsewhere.

Social media marketing and business trends 2012

So, you want to know what’s going to happen next? Social media is evolving fast and marketers are starting to catch up. I wanted to understand how will social media marketing change in the 2012 and here are some thoughts that I came up with.

We have collected trends in social media, marketing, business, gaming and mobile and combined all of them into this post. This is our third annual presentation about what to expect in social media marketing in the coming year. We are getting pretty good at this.

Social media marketing disappears
Social media is staring to be integral part of everything we do when marketing our business. This means that social media marketing will not be a separate activity but just one facet of your overall marketing plan. Much like SEO or email marketing, social media will be just one tool in the box.

Integrating social media
Brands start large scale integration of social media content into their digital properties. Big brands will use social media connect and user generated content to get closer to customers. This will help them get most out of true fans and brand advocates.

Support through social media
The integration of social media will lead to people reporting their problems in their channel of choice. Social media integration lets some of those problems be handled by the peers. However, companies should find ways to avoid their social media channels becoming a glorified helpdesk.

Social sales
Social media integration will allow customers to get real user experience before making purchase decisions. In my view social commerce is not web shop on Facebook. It’s a digital property where people can make their decision based on marketing materials from the brand and augmented with feedback from existing customers in a form of ratings, reviews and comments.

Group buying sites will level off
Let’s face it, it is a brain dead model. Lets grow a huge list by offering really cheap deals and then sell that list to businesses to get really cheap deals. Group buying will not go away but businesses will understand better what it is and use it accordingly. To spell it out: businesses buy an opportunity to let potential customers sample their offering at a hugely discounted rate in hopes of repeat business. Money is in the list!

Social media ROI
More result oriented. Still less than half of the marketers measure results from social media. Social media ROI is a hot topic but less than half of the marketers report seeing it. We see that the budgets will grow and social gets more important in the brand’s marketing mix. This means that C-level will demand results. This means dollars in sales. It can be as easy as direct sales from Facebook or a bit more vague as in conversion rate of people from social channels is higher than average.

Social media advertising will grow
Social media channels are looking to turn a profit so they are looking for ways to get at your advertising budget. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and others are looking into way to display more marketing messages to their users. This will increase budgets dedicated to social media advertising.

Branded content
Next to advertising there will be a push be in the user’s stream. This means brands need to create content that is good enough to be curated and shared. Content has longer shelf life, can be reused in different channels, has higher perceived value for customers. This means that content creation budgets may in many cases exceed the social advertising budgets. It wouldn’t be surprising if some companies kill advertising in favor of content creation.

Tabletizing and mobilizing websites
Not exactly a social media thing but businesses start to make their sites mobile. Like 10 years ago companies made websites because everybody else did, now they will make their sites mobile because everybody else does.

Here are the 21 social media trends you should watch out for in 2012:

1. Social media marketing disappears
Social media is going to be integral part of everything we do when promoting our business. This will make social media an integral part of marketing and it will not be a separate activity. Much like SEO or email marketing, social media will be just one tool in the box.

2. Integrating social media to corporate websites
Brands start large scale integration of social media content into their digital properties. Big brands will use social media connect and user generated content to get closer to customers. This will help them get most out of true fans and brand advocates by linking their web properties to conversations.

3. More support through social media
The integration of social media will lead to people reporting their problems in their channel of choice. Social media integration lets some of those problems be handled by the peers. However, companies should find ways to avoid their social media channels becoming a glorified helpdesk.

4. Social CRM will make inroads in larger organizations
Social data will be added to the CRM systems to find trends in sentiment and indivitual preferences of customers. The goal is to engage the customer in a conversation and give value that binds them tighter to the brand. As brands lose control of online interaction social CRM will help them react and predict how conversations are taking place. Findings from IBM showed that in the next three to five years, 81% plan to focus on customer analytics and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions.

5. Social media will influence more sales
Social media integration will allow customers to get real user opinions before making purchase decisions. Social commerce is not web shop on Facebook. It’s a digital property where people can make their decision based on marketing materials from the brand and augmented with feedback from existing customers in a form of ratings, reviews and comments.

6. Social commerce on mobile devices
We will lead into a new era in eCommerce where you can directly purchase from your Facebook account. With proliferation of mobile platforms social commerce will become popular on mobile devices. Facebook’s Open Graph will also let you directly purchase with Facebook credits based on recommendations by your friends.

7. Social media budgets will grow
Most companies will increase their social media budgets. This includes in-house spending on and outsourced services. Part of the investments go to boost their own social presence through blogs and product reviews. Rest goes to external sites like Facebook. Related post.

8. Social media advertising will grow
Social media channels are looking to turn a profit so they are looking for ways to get at your advertising budget. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and others are looking into way to display more marketing messages to their users. This will increase budgets dedicated to social media advertising.

Social media advertising will grow to $5 Billion in 2012, 25% of that vill be locally targeted social advertising.

9. Social media ROI is a must
More result oriented. Still less than half of the marketers measure results from social media. Social media ROI is a hot topic but less than half of the marketers report seeing it. We see that the budgets will grow and social gets more important in the brand’s marketing mix. This means that C-level will demand results. Dollars in sales. It can be as easy as direct sales from Facebook or a bit more vague as in conversion rate of people from social channels is higher than average.

In the course of our conversations with CMOs worldwide, an overwhelming consensus emerged. The vast majority of CMOs believe there are three key areas for improvement. They must understand and deliver value to empowered customers; create lasting relationships with those customers; and measure marketing’s contribution to the business in relevant, quantifiable terms. Insights from the Global Chief Marketing Officer Study (PDF).

10. Rise of the branded content

Next to advertising there will be a push be in the user’s stream. This means brands need to create content that is good enough to be curated and shared. Content has longer shelf life, can be reused in different channels, has higher perceived value for customers. This means that content creation budgets may in many cases exceed the social advertising budgets. It wouldn’t be surprising if some brands will kill advertising in favor of content creation.

11. Content Curation and Discovery
Information explosion has created an attention deficit and people want to have a quick overview of what’s important and easily find what they need. Aggregation and content curation are going to be very important and brands start filtering information to give value to their customers.Brands will integrate curation into their IT or use third party services. News aggregation apps like Flipboard and magazine apps will find a market in corporate circles.

12. Tabletizing and mobilizing websites
Not exactly a social media thing but businesses start to make their sites mobile. Like 10 years ago companies made websites because everybody else did, now they will make their sites mobile because everybody else does. People will use more social networks’ messaging instead of regular email and IM. (Webmail providers should be worried).

13. Social gaming will grow and spill over to real world
Social Media Games have more players than prime time TV shows have viewers. In-game ads and branded game items will become important promotional tools. As social media will become more mobile so will social gaming. This means that games that are hosted on social networks, such as Zynga and EA on Facebook, will be playable on mobile devices. These kinds of games will be played on-the-go – when you’re traveling by bus, sitting in a boring lecture, waiting for your lunch. Social gaming will be integrated with real life to physically perform tasks offline that have effect in the virtual world. Engage real friends, go to locations, flash mobs, etc. The potential growth of mobile social gaming will be huge.

14. Location! Location! Location!
Location based services will be everywhere. Local information, reviews, coupons, loyalty programs and more. All tied in with your social graph. We are moving towards an era of real-time need for information. More and more people will be checking for recommendations about nearby restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. Location based services will be part of many marketing campaigns. Near-field communication chips in mobile devices get more common and will pave the way to the new era of “tap & pay” commerce. Loyalty programs will start moving towards NFC and location based solutions. NFC will be a convenient way for you to connect, share and react.

15. Most social media usage will be on mobile devices
Social media is happening in real time and people share content when it’s happening! As smartphone penetrations reaches majority and tablets become increasingly popular, sharing content will move towards mobile devices. Smartphones gives us extra depth into personalization – we can share what we want, when we want. The limits are fading! You will always be connected with social media, no matter where you are!

16. Group buying sites will add location based services
Let’s face it, it is a brain dead model. Grow a huge list by offering really cheap deals and then sell that list to businesses to get really cheap deals. Group buying will not go away but businesses will understand better what it is and use it accordingly. To spell it out: businesses buy an opportunity to let potential customers sample their offering at a hugely discounted rate in hopes of repeat business. New layer of value can be added by integrating with location based services that will alert users to deals when they are in the neighborhood.

17. Interacting with live TV in social media
Live TV shows will react to user interactions such as votes, suggestions, etc. We have the ability to change what’s happening by providing real-time feedback on social networks. TV is going to be everywhere through mobile apps.

18. News will be social
News websites will gradually be replaced by applications integrated with social media technology such as Facebook’s Open Graph. While this won’t happen instantly, we’re going down that road as we speak. People will be reading news from their dedicated applications such as iPad’s Flipboard or Washington Post Social Reader. We will take in a lot of recommendations and read the same things that our friends are reading.

19. Mobile apps will become more social
All of the successful new mobile apps will be deeply integrated with social networks allowing you to share and engage more than ever before. We will be taking in a lot of suggestions and recommendations from our friends, colleagues and other trustworthy peers.

20. Your social media footprint will grow
Frictionless sharing capabilities and social gestures will make our lives increasingly visible on social networking sites. Music, TV shows, check-ins, purchases and more will be automatically posted to social media sites. Always connected, always sharing! If you don’t share, your friends will. Some may rise privacy concerns but most people will ignore the implications and their lives are going to be more open than ever before.

21. Facebook will break the 1 Billion people mark
Where does that more than 1 billion Facebook users come from? The countries with more than 20 million people and Facebook penetration below 20% will add most of this growth in 2012. Add the potential growth of other countries and you get to a cool billion or 1.1 billion even. And that does not include China.

Here you go! What do you think will happen in 2012. Please, let us know in the comments.

Giving Great Gifts!

I wonder what will you do to make your loved ones also have the same feelings? Of course express our feelings with the truth instead? An honest expression are beautiful if it delivered in a proper state and the right path. Because the expression of this love will continue to fill in our hearts until the end of life.

Have you ever thought to express a love message is in a necklace?
Be great with creative gifts. Message on a Necklace, write your own personal love letter or a meaningful message for someone that you love or care about. The message is then printed on a tiny scroll and inserted into a glass vial pendant. The pendant is placed on an elegant silver or gold necklace of your choice. This allows that special person to wear your heartfelt message as a symbol of your love. A larger copy of your message is beautifully presented through a display window on a keepsake necklace box.

Necklace Love
I think all human beings will be touched by the beautiful expression, wrapped with a look of love in a necklace. And of course this will be the most beautiful memories in the lives of the people we care about.

The Best Pay per Click Agency

There are thousands pay per click services in the internet. They are digital marketing agency that has many years experience optimising pay per click campaigns for companies, large and small. I think, i found one of the best pay per click agency. Surge digital, a modern pay per click London, specialise in providing pay per click (ppc) set up and management services to businesses in and around London.

What is PPC?
PPC stands for "pay per click". Pay per Click is an advertising model where businesses pay an agreed upon amount, each time their advertisement is "clicked", not each time their ad is displayed.

Advertisers typically setup ppc on a PPC network and define how much they are willing to spend for each click-through that they receive.

Advertisers select keywords, keyword phrases, keyword groups, or categories in which they want their advertisements to appear.

Benefits to PPC
When you setup a PPC campaign you can controlthe traffic. While a new website takes time to rank well in search engines, with PPC you can turn the traffic on and off. With PPC you can create almost instant traffic. Unlike organic search listings you control the information (ie. description) and where the visitor is directed on your website.

Another benefit to PPC listings is the opportunities for international exposure. Organic search listings vary in different geographical regions. With PPC you control where you are seen.

P2P Lending - Made Simple

I have been wondering lately if there are some best practices for investors when it comes to peer to peer lending. These would be tried and true ideas that apply to investors whether it be in Lending Club, Prosper, even Zopa (in the UK) or any new entrant that might come into the industry.

I think peer to peer lending UK also has some best practices and I share a few thoughts about this topic below.

Diversification
This is the most important factor in the success of your peer to peer investment. Regular readers will have heard me say this many times. You need to diversify your investment. If you invest £500 make sure you invest in the maximum of £20 per note.

Don’t let idle cash build up
One of things that sometimes surprises new investors is how quickly the cash builds up. Once you start investing in loans within 45 days you will see payments coming into your account. These payments consist of principal plus interest so with a fully invested £10,000 account, for example, you can see new cash coming in at the rate of £400-£500 per month depending on the terms of your notes. This cash will sit there earning 0% interest until you reinvest.

Understand the risks
There are detailed prospectuses available for both Lending Club and Prosper (those are links to the current prospectus PDF files). They contain all kinds of information including around 20 pages detailing the risks of peer to peer lending. Now, I realize that few investors will read these before investing (I know I didn’t) but it is still important to have some idea of the risks.

Do Some Research
This one is pretty broad. But I think investors should at least do some research before committing their money. I would like to see every investor spend an hour or more looking at the investor information on the websites of Lending Club and Prosper or spending some time doing analysis on Lendstats or Nickel Steamroller. This way you can get some idea of how the system works and what kinds of loans are more likely to produce good returns.

5 Mistakes to Avoid When Setting Goals - A Free Self-Improvement Book

Learning how to set goals effectively is one of the most important things that you can do to improve your life. Unfortunately, it is also the one area that might be holding you back if you aren't doing it right. Here are the top mistakes that you absolutely have to avoid if you are serious about reaching the important goals that you set for yourself or you can download a free self-improvement book.

1. Making Your Goal Too Big.
How to avoid this trap: Break your big goals down into smaller, less intimidating ones. Rather than setting a goal like making a million dollars a year, you might be better off first aiming for one hundred thousand dollars a year, then when you hit that goal you can set your sights higher.

2. Making Your Goal Too Small.
How to avoid this trap: Powerful goals are ones that stretch you beyond your comfort zone. Be sure yours are big enough to keep your interest long enough to achieve it.

3. Making Your Goals Too Vague.
How to avoid this trap: Make your goals as specific as possible. The more details that you know about your goal, the better.

4. Setting Conflicting Goals.
How to avoid this trap: Look closely at each of your goals and what you hope to get when you reach them. If any of them conflict with each other, you have to make decisions about which of the goals is more important to you, or try to balance the goals.

5. Not Setting Goals At All. It sounds crazy, but some people talk about all these big goals that they have, but they never actually set a goal and work towards it. And the reality is that it is impossible for you to hit a target that you are not aiming at.

Click here now to instantly grab your copy of this free self-improvement book where you'll discover a proven-to-work formula that will help you achieve more success, love, health, joy and happiness in your life forever… Guaranteed!

Contractor Mortgages

Just another mortgages articles. One thing to keep in mind is that these mortgages are not what most know as self-certified mortgages. Contractor mortgages are basically mortgages that unlike standard mortgages are looked at on a case-by-case basis. This gives a contractor or freelancer a better advantage and opportunity to get an approval on a mortgage, at a reasonable rate.

Many people are worried that maybe they cannot apply for a contractor mortgage for numerous reasons. But mortgages for contractors are for everyone. Anyone can take advantage of this great opportunity. There is no set criterion to apply for these mortgages, and to the surprise of a lot of people there are lots of mortgage products on the market. There are great deals for people with adverse credit ratings as well as first time buyers. Some people think that they need to have accounts collected for three years before they can apply for a mortgage for contractors, but that is not true. Anyone can apply for a mortgage for contractors at any time.

How to Find Best Mortgage Rates

Accepting a mortgage is a tricky task. There are several variables, which you need to take care of while accepting a loan. The most important factors is obviously the rate of interest on which you are accepting the mortgage. As mortgages are offered against some collateral, the interest rates generally remain low and it may not be difficult to repay the loan. Yet, at times the mortgage rates may be a bit high. To make the mortgage deal affordable, many people often search for the best mortgage rates. If you are one of them, you need to get certain things very clear.

Gaining proper understanding of the factors guiding the interest rate is important too. If you are searching for the best rates on mortgages, you need to understand the variables guiding it. One of them is obviously the time for which you are accepting the loan and the other is the amount of money, which you need. Generally, the interest amount is high when the loan is taken for extended period of time and when the amount is high. So, take loans as much as you actually need and repay it at your soonest.

When you are accepting loans, you should also give special importance to the terms and conditions of bank. Mortgage deals of all financial institutions are not the same. So, take your time and make the decision.

Wedding Favors With Flair

Wedding favors have a heritage dating back to the early Roman dynasty. It's a fun tradition shared by many cultures and in American society, it has become an integral part of traditional wedding etiquette. So, just what is a wedding favor? It's a thoughtful memento presented to wedding guests from the wedding couple, in appreciation for sharing their special wedding day. Traditionally almonds, chocolates, cookies, as well as a host of sweets, have been given throughout the years. But, today's couples are opting for a more personalized, creative direction with their favors. Today, favors range from small picture frames, custom labels on wine bottles, custom flower seed packets, candy bars sporting a personalized wrapper, small cake slice shaped boxes, to snow globes. The list is endless since favors can be just about anything that the bride and groom dream a special memento for their guests.

Make it unique and thoughtful

Select favors that uniquely reflect your personal sense of style and will create a lasting impression with your guests. Gifts that your guests can actually use are always appreciated. Some couples provide cultural favors that reflect their heritage while others choose gifts that will bring a smile and highlight their sense of fun.

What's HOT this Season?
One item that's big this year and has that sense of fun is Chinese take-out boxes; those inexpensive cardboard boxes with a wire handle that contain your take-out or extra food from restaurants. The range of sizes and colors makes them ideal for containing a wide variety of treasures. Many boxes get decorated with fun Japanese symbols, bows, ribbon, chopsticks, tropical drink umbrellas, and photos. Not only do they make for a cute package, they make ideal cake boxes for guests that wish to take their cake with them. Consider filling the boxes with rich chocolates in fun shapes such as pennies, footballs, globes and more, or take the traditional route and fill with chocolate almonds. The take-out boxes allow couples a wide range of personalization options. Think of themes that reflect your personality or hobbies and add graphics on the outside of the boxes that accentuate the contents. I've also seen the Chinese take-out boxes used as wedding invitations and announcements complete with Chinese cookies that reveal a personalized message of good fortune.

So, if you decide to thank your guests with favors, there are many shapes and styles and in a range of prices sure to fit your plans. Thanking your guests is up to you and how you envision adding your own personal stamp. Who says "you can't take it with you"?

Do you take this business? - wedding supplies and service industry

The $32 billion, recession-proof wedding industry has more entrepreneurs saying "I do."

Harold Clarke always dreamed of making it big in the fashion business. When the Kingston, Jamaica, native came to the United States in 1969, his objective was clear: He would one day become a household name in the high-stakes fashion industry.

Clarke got his ambitious dream off by designing pants in his spare time while working as an orderly at New York City's Brookdale Hospital. In 1975, Clarke did what countless other aspiring designers have done before him: He attended classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Five years later, Clarke opened I&H Fashions, a women's clothing design studio in lower Manhattan. Weak sales and lack of access to expansion capital, however, forced I&H Fashions out of business only three years after the company was launched.

But Clarke never gave up on his dream. After holding several jobs in 1987, the risk-taking designer took a second stab at entrepreneurship. With a $10,000 loan from his wife, Iona, Clarke opened Harold Clarke Couture and started designing suede and leather dresses and jackets. Iona, a former Chase Manhattan Bank customer service representative, is Harold Clarke Couture's secretary, treasurer and partner.

Today, the Clarkes have moved on to a more profitable segment of the fashion industry--wedding gowns. Harold Clarke Couture's dresses, which wholesale from $1,100 to $2,000 each, are sold in upscale bridal salons in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Beverly Hills; Boston; Chicago; and Newport Beach, Calif. Clarke, who projects $250,000 in company sales this year, says his gowns have appeared in such major bridal magazines as Bride's, Modern Bride, Elegant Bride and Bridal Guide. Clarke, 42, believes that the decision to branch out into the wedding industry was a wise one.

"The wedding industry is recession-proof," boasts Clarke, who designed and manufactured more than 80 wedding dresses last year. "A lot of people are getting married today, and there are a lot of opportunities out there for business owners such as ourselves."

Wedding Industry Research

Let us be clear at the beginning. This is not a guide on how to plan a wedding, but rather on how to find information on the business of weddings. The wedding industry is a large industry in terms of dollars, but tracking where that money is spent is more difficult for several reasons.

  • First, it is an industry that is made up of multiple smaller enterprises like caterers, wedding consultants, dresses, various beauty suppliers (hair, makeup), photographers, favors/bridesmaids gifts, music, honeymoon related, etc. While the industry as a whole represents a lot of money, each of the component parts is much smaller -- some smaller than others. These smaller composite suppliers can be very local and likely will be small and privately owned -- traditionally the types of businesses that do not necessarily report financial information to any agency other than the IRS. This is in sharp contrast to larger industries, comprised on many public companies which are required to file with the SEC making it much easier to find information. These larger industries also affect the economy as a whole on a much more obvious scale, also making it easier to find out information on them.
  • Second, many of the smaller components like caterers, DJs, and photographers, wedding favors, invitations, etc. also do other events without necessarily breaking their business down into wedding versus non-wedding.
  • Third, because some of the individuals and businesses that provide services and products may only work part-time on wedding-related services to supplement their income or out of friendship, there will either be a minimal charge or no charge at all. Figures if there are any, will likely not be in any "industry" tally.

Since overall industry numbers are going to be hard to come by, other ways of finding the information will be necessary. One way is by searching local (and community) newspapers, which may provide information on a local market. Also, there may be individual accounts of weddings that would be relevant. Contacting local companies/people will provide someone with experience and knowledge on the local scene. Try the local phone books under weddings, party planning, catering, event planning, etc. to find the local companies/professionals. Also, ReferenceUSA (often available in local public libraries) is an electronic directory with SIC/NAICS codes search limitable by various geographic search functions.

Many times keywords, Standard Industrial Classification (SIC), or North American Industrial Classification Codes (NAICS) will be helpful in finding information. For example, the following codes can be used to search for companies in databases like ReferenceUSA or D&B. They can also be used to locate information in the Economic Census. This Census comes out every 5 years and has information on sales and numbers of establishments (national and by state).

5812 Eating Establishments (includes Caterers)
2335 Women's, Misses', and Juniors' Dresses (includes Wedding Dresses, Wedding Gowns)

Dresses

When looking for data on the size of this industry, the first thing to note is that, while there is a lot of money in the wedding industry, gowns represent only one segment of the industry.

Second, wedding gowns are part of a larger women's clothing industry -- depending on how the business reports itself and how deep the search functionality is of the database, separating wedding dresses from the larger industry may be difficult. It might help to use the two NAICS codes that are applicable to help you find companies and numbers (that is, sales figures). Databases like Duns Million Dollar Directory and ReferenceUSA allow searches by the NAICS codes given above, while other databases still use SIC codes. To have a complete picture, however, it is necessary to also consider those establishments that sell used gowns and those offering rental gowns. Lastly, neither of those take into account those women who have someone make their dress. There are SIC codes for all of these others but not for the instance where a friend or family member makes the dress.

Lastly, there are many definitions of wedding dress. When most people in the U.S. think of wedding dresses, they think in terms of the traditional long, white dress. However, there are brides who only buy a nice outfit and go to the judge's chambers and others who plan "ethnic" weddings where the bride wears a traditional costume from her country.

You may have more luck with industry information by searching through articles and gathering snippets. I would suggest searching in wedding/bridal magazines such as -Bride's, Modern Bride, as well as clothing trade magazines such as Women’s Wear Daily, all of which cover this area. In addition, there are full-text databases that local public and university libraries subscribe to such as Infotrac, (which has all three of the above titles) and ABI-Inform, among others. Also, both databases index articles. For example, Infotrac uses the index terms Wedding, Costume and Wedding Supplies, and Services Industry). One caveat, many of the articles will be more fashion-oriented and less business- oriented.

Consultants

If you want to find information on this industry, try one of the associations listed below or contact a local consultant through your phone directory or web sites such as http://respondweddings.com/ or http://www.afwpi.com/consultants/ and see what they may offer.

For those who want to get into the wedding planning/consulting business, Sell the Bride offers tips as well as some books and reports

Food, Videography, Disc Jockey

These three industries are ones where some of their business is not wedding related. There may not necessarily be caterers whose only business it to cater only to weddings. The same could be said about Disc Jockeys and videographers.

However, the two associations for videographers and disc jockeys have interesting data about their particular industry and their industry in regards to weddings.

Favors/Bridesmaids Gifts

Finding industry information for favors also presents difficulties: the biggest of which is that the choice of favor is individual -- it could be anything the bride/groom chooses. There may be things that are more likely to be chosen (picture frames, jewelry, etc.) but these items are not solely for the wedding industry. There is no way to distinguish between those that are bought for weddings and those that are not. Also, the places where favors or gifts can be bought is not limited to the "wedding favor store." Most stores sell a variety of products and will not mark items specifically as "wedding favors." There may be estimates of the average amount that a bride spends per party favor/gift, but such "averages" fail to take into account the number of people to whom she is giving a gift - which can vary from one to five to eight, and on up. Searching through publications geared to gift markets may be one way to find information on such gifts.

Destination Weddings

There has been an increase in what is known as destination weddings - those weddings held where neither the bride or the groom lives or necessarily has family. It has been estimated the one in ten weddings are destination weddings - a massive increase over the last decade.

Modern couples are often older then they were 15 or 20 years ago, they are often more well traveled, and/or they may want something more exotic. Top destinations for U.S. couples include Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, and in Europe, southern France and Italy. Resorts and hotels in hot areas are becoming increasingly proactive in their wedding business by putting together packages and offering more services for those seeking wedding services.

There is no single statistical source for data on this segment of the wedding industry; rather much of the information is anecdotal and derived from surveys/questions to hotels/resorts, couples, wedding planners, and others. Thus, article searches may yield the best information on this topic.

Enterprise Content Management System (CMS)

Content management system (CMS) can be defined as a system used to organize and create documents and other content. In terms of web applications a CMS is used for managing websites and web content which in many cases requires a backend system for editing and creating documents.

One such solution is PostNuke. PostNuke is a free, open source content management system released under the GNU General Public License. The PostNuke project was started because some PHP-Nuke users believed there should be a more open development environment. They felt the only way this could be done was to develop their own fork of the PHP-Nuke code. PostNuke is now a separate project sharing very little code (if any) with the original project.

Another solution is Mambo (formerly named Mambo Open Source or MOS) which is an open source content management system (CMS) for creating and managing websites through a simple web interface. It has attracted many users due to its ease of use. Mambo also includes more advanced features such as page caching to improve performance on busy sites, advanced templating techniques, and a fairly robust API. Mambo can provide RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, forums, polls, calendars, website searching, language internationalization, and other possibilities.

Quick application.
Gentics Content.Node (Enterprise CMS) offers your employees a simple editor. Costs for training can be reduced while the acceptance of your intranet or website increases through the power of the "crowd".

Multilingual functions allow you to publish your contents in different languages if needed. Editing of multimedia content is easier for your employees. Individual enhancements on your intranet, website or extranet can be expanded in any direction and will be displayed on your webservers, JBoss portal, Microsoft Office SharePoint portal, SAP Netweaver portal, Facebook page or Twitter account.
